A Family is a named group of related Runs in Sift used to compare tests and establish historical baselines. It combines selected test data, time alignments, and aggregate statistics so engineers can evaluate new results against representative prior behavior.
Engineers group representative Runs into a Family and align them to a shared reference, such as test start or an event recorded in an Annotation. They can overlay signals and calculate statistics across the group to examine the range of historical behavior.
Family Rules use those statistics to flag deviations in a completed Run, supporting hardware regression testing. Changes to Family membership, alignments, or statistics create a version history, preserving a record of how the baseline evolved.
